BNI KennetBNI is unique, in that only one person from each profession is allowed to join a chapter in order to avoid any conflict of interest. Instead of the traditional networking events where businesses try to sell to each other, BNI relies on it’s members referring third party contacts to the team as they go about their daily business.

BNI became hugely successful in generating new business for its members through referrals when it began in the United States more than 18 years ago.

There are now more than 3,000 chapters, with over 60,000 members across 15 countries. In 2003 they handled over 3 million referrals worth a total of £750million.

BNI launched in the UK in 1998 and there are now over 450 chapters generating more than 470,000 referrals with a value of over £150 million. Here in Newbury, the Kennet Chapter was launched in June 2005 and has already 26 members.

All types of business can benefit from BNI. The organisation proves to be just as successful for a florist or electrician as a bank and building society.

BNI is successful by adopting a ‘givers gain’ policy with members looking for business for each other. Being in BNI is like having 40 sales people working for you without you having to pay salaries or commission.

The Kennet Chapter meet every Thursday morning at Newbury and Crookham Golf Club at 6.45am
